You are about to embark on the Class of 1962 Reunion Cruise. You board it in your home town, and sail all the way to New York. What should you expect from this cruise? There are a number of on-board events planned, but the Captain has decided to also offer some shore leave. For example, all of Saturday morning and most of Saturday afternoon is all yours! The cruise ship will be docked at the Cayuga inlet. From there, you can walk into the quaint town of Ithaca and buy all sorts of fancy gee-gaws and hoo-haws and wee-woos. Be sure to patronize the shopowners. They love being patronized. They wait all year for gullible tourists with lots of money and no sense of value to stumble into their shop and blow it all on a genuine replica of Ides Bowling Palace. Do not disappoint them! Don't forget the tourist's motto: "It may only be July, but it's never too early to shop for the holidays." |

Friday night will be phenomenal! While casual dress is de rigueur, the Valentine Café is anything but a routine restaurant. The restaurant is located at the end of South Quarry Street. It is not located on Valentine Place which would be a logical location for it, but South Quarry Café just didn't have the panache that Valentine Café does. Check the map link above for the exact location (within 10'). The format will be h'ors d'oeuvres in a buffet style so that people can mingle and trade stories about families, careers, vegetable gardens, and wild and crazy senior citizen homes.

When: Date: July 21, 2007 at Time: Morning and early afternoon
Where: Location: Anywhere you want
United States
This is free time to visit, tour, whatever you want to do. Enjoy yourself! There is nothing scheduled until later in the afternoon. You are encouraged to get a foursome together, go golfing, and then spend the entire evening talking about how you coulda shot a 72 if only those 15 putts had dropped. More interesting people will be hiking in the parks, shopping in the malls, or going bowling. Most, however, will just be taking a nap after breakfast and lunch.

Many of you may remember the Coddington Restaurant. This is the updated and totally renovated facility with a new name. It offers a spectacular view of the city from up on South Hill that will make you wonder why you ever left.
Because everyone is getting a bit older, the party is targeted to accommodate both the Early Bird Special adicionados and the Six O'Clock World News Roundup people. Are you wondering how the Reunion Committee will do this? You and them both. At the moment, they don't have a clue.
Moving now to the dress code report. So what should you wear? There is some disagreement on this. Our Fashionista says: "Dressy Casual". Our Common Senseista says: "Whatever". Now what? Polo shirt and slacks, t-shirt and shorts, dress and high-heels, shorts and shirt, you pick. With the anticipated high temperature, dress comfortably.
Wait! This just in! The Committee now has a clue about the setup. The plan is to provide a two venue affair! Inside the building there will be all sorts of stuff and outside under the big top there will be high wire acts to amaze, pachyderms to astound, magical events to...hold it...that isn't it at all. Outside will just be a large gathering place for people to socialize and eat dinner. But it will be under a tent because, after all, this is Ithaca, second only to the rain forest of Kauai for rainfall.
Another news bulletin! Aurora Street deadends at Clinton Street due to construction. From Clinton Street through town, it's a mess. So, take Clinton Street off of Route 13, go to Aurora Street and turn right and head up the hill. Near the top of the hill, turn left onto Coddington Road and look for the New Elks at 124 Coddington Road.

And you thought Saturday night was phenomenal? Just wait until Sunday. The catered Sunday morning breakfast will be held at Ithaca High School in the Student Activities Center. It's Building B, so if you don't know where that is, ask someone: "Where is B?" They will tell you where "B" is. It's in the front. Or click here to see it on the map: "B on the Map".
Following the breakfast, there will be a guided tour of the school. Why will it be "guided"...because we're part of the let's get high generation and they don't trust us in the chem labs without supervision.
Here are a couple of things to watch out for:
- If you get lost, wait until school opens in the fall and have an underclassman show you how to get out.
- If you get locked in a room, do not break the window to get out. Just set off the fire alarm. Isn't that what you did 45 years ago when you and Thelma Sue were trapped in the broom closet?
- If the classrooms don't look familiar, try the restrooms, the locker rooms, or the area under the bleachers.
- And don't forget. Don't smoke in the restrooms. Yeah, right, like that would ever happen.
