INTERLAKEN – Leah M. Stark Forsythe, 53, of 9074 Rt. 96, Interlaken, NY died peacefully Saturday morning, April 11, 1998 at Cayuga Medical Center surrounded by her loving family after a valiant 2 year battle with colin cancer.  Born April 24, 2944 the daughter of the late Fred and Ruth Brown.  Leah is also survived by her loving and devoted husband, Nelson Forsythe whom she married March 29, 1997.  Her beloved daughters, Gail (Scott Hughes), Susan Stark and Tammy McGuire and her stepdaughter Laura (Mike) McEver.  Her angelic treasures Scottie, Taylor and Zachary Hughes, Ashley, Tia and Anthony McEver and Samantha McInnes.  Her sisters Louise (Don) Hine, Linda (Chuck) Mullen and Lorraine Ely.  Her brothers Earl, Jack, John, Jesse and a brother Fred who passed away in 1985.  Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many close friends.

Leah had always lived in the Ithaca area.  She had worked at Newberrys, Ormonds, NCR, Tower Club at Ithaca College and Cayuga Medical Center in the lab.  At the age of 37, Leah decided to go to college at TC3.  She believed you were never too old to try a new adventure.  Leah loved playing cards, Scrabble, dice, sewing, doing crafts, going to auctions, and garage sales.  Leah "loved her grandchildren to the moon and back again" as she always told them.

Leah was an inspiration as a "lady" of strength and courage.  She was admired by so many of us.  Leah gave so many of us the strength to go on many times, no matter how sick she may have been.

Leah will be sadly and greatly missed by all who knew her.  We have to believe as she believed in miracles and angels.  We have our memories and this will keep her lovely spirit alive and with us always.

Calling hours in Leah's honor will be on Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Herson Funeral Home, Ithaca.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Pete Hood officiating.  Her burial will follow at Frear Memorial Park on Hayts Rd., in Ithaca.  Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society-Tompkins County Unit, 57 Front Street, Binghamton, NY 13905.
