Dana and I have been married for 45 years and still going strong. He worked for K-Mart for 32 years and retired in 1997. In that time we have lived in many eastern states due to transfers. I was a stay-at-home Mom with three children, Kimberly, Jeffrey, and David. I enjoy woodworking, painting, crocheting, and sewing, and am active in our church. I also raised Maltese dogs for eight years. Since Dana retired, we have enjoyed traveling, visiting family and friends, golfing, and going on cruises. My life may sound dull to some, but I have loved every minute of it.

Finally a grand daughter, soon to be 4yrs.
I graduated Keuka College in 1966 and returned to Ithaca to work in the Welfare office. In 1968 a Cornell student married the townie (me). By the way I met him through Operation Match the first computer dating program. Do you remember that gig? So I took a Gamble and now I live in Las Vegas.
We lived in Connecticut for eight years, where I was a social worker in a state mental hospital until my only child (son) was born. Bob (the man in my life) went to Yale. We then set out to live in New Brunswick Canada, Knoxville, Tenn., North Carolina, Maryland and moved to Nevada 16 years ago. He is in the field of geology and has been occupied in the nuclear waste repository project for the past 25 years. I have always been occupied with a job of one kind or another. In addition, I have always enjoyed working in my home, cooking and gardening.
Almost 27 years ago. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 47 yrs. old. Now I support the Race For the Cure (Komen For the Cure) in various events. It was also at that time that my husband and I started down hill skiing and got hooked. The goal now is to ski into old age with a free lift ticket. I sure missed the boat with this activity in high school. I guess I was too busy trying to make a passing grade.
It will be interesting to visit with fellow students from yesteryear. I hope you can jog/shake my memory. I do remember hitting the streets of town selling ads for the Tattler and singing in the choral clubs. That was great.
My husband retired in 2011 but I am still work a part time merchandising job. We purchased a small trailer and have visited a lot of campgrounds and national parks, and hope to see a lot more in the future.
Thank you Reunion Committee for all your hard voluntary work.
There will be a reward. There must be a reward? Who is going to give the reward? You certainly have my applause. Clapping hands loudly. See you soon along with my twin, Mary.
In 2016 my husband and I moved to McCall, Idaho near our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. It is a town of 3,000 offering great hiking, mountain biking, boating and fresh air.
We are in good health and can even brag that my husband and I ran the Race For The Cure in Las Vegas and came in first in our age division. I am a breast cancer survivor of 27 years.
Life is good.

I returned to the USA with husband Ron 2/09 to live in the home originally built by my maternal grandparents, where my parents had retired also. I'm active now with the Friends of the Public Library, community theater and Episcopal Church.
We lived 28 years in Belgium and nearly ten years before that in England. That was directly after graduate school at the U of Michigan (Ron - PhD in Microbiology, me MA in History and a research administrator at the Association for Asian Studies). Ron and I met at Cornell and married 12/66. In Kent,England, I worked and trained as a social worker and had two children Matthew (1976) and Sarah (1978). Our third child Mark was born in Belgium in 1983. All three have dual nationality but came back to the USA for college. Matt now works as a computer operator at the National Radio-Astronomy Laboratory in New Mexico. Sarah is married, works for the Labor Department in Washington, and has two children Ashley (5/07) and Ryan (10/08). Mark is in Namibia doing his research for a PhD in cultural anthropology at Stanford. While raising a family in Belgium, I was very active with the American Theatre Co, mainly directing. I also wrote for and edited newsletters. The last eight years in Belgium I privately tutored adults and children in English as a foreign language. Having just attended my husband's 50th high school reunion in Lakewood, Ohio, I'm hoping to attend ours in July 2012. I'm very interested in what others in the class of 1962 have been doing. It would be fun to exchange e-mails with old friends and classmates. Not into Facebook, blogs, etc. but happy to talk or write. |

In between playing softball and traveling, I've worked as a Requirements Analyst for several Columbus firms. They have graciously funded my hobbies. I'm now retired, living on $1.98 per day.
Interests and hobbies include traveling and photography. Formerly they were: reading, softball, volleyball, working on websites, and watching captivating TV. There are a lot of photos from past trips on my website: www.garmise.com. Future trip photos will be there eventually if I can just remember how to update the site. I knew I should have written it down. I am married to Terri Holland. I have two sons (1967/1970) living in Phoenix, AZ and Spartanburg, SC and a daughter (1984) living in Columbus, OH. I shaved off my mustache for my 2/3rds birthday so the "Now" picture is completely a misrepresentation. I have been assured that now I am good looking although my hair is wispy at best.

On 12/19/06 I was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia. Since then, I was in the hospital for six weeks with my wife Fran by my side all of the time. I am now in remission and will be having a Bone Morrow Transplant on April 25, 2007 which my sister Susie is donating as a perfect match. I asked my doctor if I could attend my 45th High School Reunion as that will be the time that I will be let loose after 100 days under doctor's care. The doctor looked at me like I was nuts, so unfortunately I will have to wait until the 50th. Have a great time!
Note: Gary passed away on November 23, 2007.

Reagan, born 1/14/2009
After graduation I headed up the hill to the Ag school at Cornell, but after working at the Statler Inn I decided the hospitality industry was for me. I graduated in '66 and entered a special Navy program to avoid the draft. I went to OCS in Newport, becoming a Medical Service Corp Officer specializing in Hospital Food Service. I served in San Diego, Millington, TN and Orlando, FL. I met Pat Miele a Navy Nurse (born in the Bronx and raised on Long Island) on September 15 1967 and married her exactly 6 months later. After our military service we moved to Ohio to follow my career, living in Columbus, Cincinnati and finally Cleveland. I worked for hotel companies until 1985 when I opened my own restaurant in the Cleveland Flats entertainment district. The Watermark Restaurant was a great success for 18 years when it closed in 2003 as the area changed. I tried retiring and did not like it. I purchased a residential house cleaning franchise (Merry Maids) in the spring of 2005 and operate it out of Lorain, OH. My wife, Pat is a PhD and currently is the Vice President of Medical Iniatives for Cuyahoga Community College. She is a better golfer than I am, but I am a better cook... who would figure. We have one son, Curtis (12/6/1974), who is married to beautiful Nicole and they have my granddaughter, Reagan and granddog, Lola. Pat and I lived in a Cleveland retoration area called Ohio City where we restored a 10,000 sq ft 1881 victorian Eastlake style mansion in 12 years then moved in the 13th year. We then lived in a contemporary condo on Lake Erie (18 years) and now live in a golf course community (Red Tail), in Avon, OH. Pat and I have travel some going to Italy, England, Scotland and France. As I am basically done with the responsible period of my live I have taken Harley Davidson Motorcycle driving lessons and have purchased a red 2005 Softail Deluxe H-D on e-bay. I have traveled to rallies in Sturgis, SD, Laconia, NH, Wisconsin, Maine, New York State, etc. Pat and I have a Condo in PGA Village, Port St Lucie, FL (Which I do not see often enough). I have constructed a Man Cave in our Avon basement which features a pretty cool woodworking shop. Health wise I had a stroke at age 55 and have recovered almost 100%. I consider myself very lucky and try to celebrate every day. Life is good! We should all enjoy the days we have and make them worthwhile. I try to spend two days a week (3-3 1/2 hrs each)with my perfect granddaughter "Reagan".
Family and good friends are important. I look forward to seeing all my "young" friends from IHS at our 50th. The 45th was totally awesome. I hope to see you all in 2012.
P.S.-- I am fat, bald and go to the bathroom way too often...but who cares! |
