Frederick Mayer Found Dead in California

 

SKANEATELES – Frederick Insley Mayer, 20, of 10 Woodmere Drive, Skaneateles, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1965 in Pasadena, Calif. of self-inflicted gun wounds.  He was born in Ithaca, Feb. 22, 1945 and was graduated from Ithaca High School in 1962.  He was winner of the New York State science award in his junior year.

 

Mr. Mayer was a senior and honor student at California Institute of Technology, recipient of the George W Greene Memorial for outstanding ability and achievement in the field of creative scholarship.

 

He is survived by his parents, Harry F. and Mary Insley Mayer; a sister, Miss Ann Mayer of Rochester; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Frederick Mayer of Auburn; an aunt and an uncle.

 

A private memorial service will be held Sunday in Skaneateles with burial in Lakeview Cemetery there.  Officiating will be Mr. and Mrs. William Gragg of Johnston.  The Bernie J. O'Neil & Son Funeral Home of Skaneateles is in charge of arrangements.
