WORCESTER -- Kathy L. Berg, 58, of 14 Crown St., a librarian and archivist, died Thursday, May 2, in the Hospice Residence after a battle with ovarian cancer.
She leaves a sister, Karen Berg of Augusta, Maine; several cousins. She was born in Ann Arbor, Mich., daughter of Clifford and Marguerite (Groomes) Berg, and lived in Boston before moving to Worcester 20 years ago. She graduated from Wagner College in Staten Island, N.Y., and received master's degrees from the School of Library Science at Columbia University and Boston University.
Since 1981, she was head librarian and later archivist at the Worcester Art Museum. She was previously librarian at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts library.
She enjoyed books, gardening, history, pottery and traveling. She had recently made a trip to Sicily.
The memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in Rural Cemetery. Burial will be in Wisconsin at the family's convenience. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester Art Museum, 55 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609-3196 or the Massachusetts Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, 205 Portland St., Suite 400, Boston, MA 02114. Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School St., Webster, is directing arrangements.
