William E. Smith
MIDDLETOWN – William E. Smith, 30, of Middletown and formerly of Ithaca, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1974 in Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo.
Born in Ithaca, son of Kenneth E. and Eloise Malone Smith of Ithaca, he was a 1962 graduate of Ithaca High School, and a 1969 graduate of Ithaca College.
He was a marketing representative for the Atlantic Rich Richfield Oil Co.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Melinda Lou Sullivan Smith; a brother, Arthur G. Smith of Hopatcong, N.J.; his grandmother, Mrs. Ruby McFarran of Ithaca; two aunts, Mrs. Anna Halkyard of Syracuse, and Mrs. Violet Baker of Brooklyn, Mich.; one niece.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bangs Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Callan officiating. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Trumansburg.
There are no calling hours.

We knew in high school that Bill had a serious illness but he perservered. There is one funny, great story about him. I think it was our Junior year during football practice when , the punter was kicking balls to him and Bill would kick them back way over the punter's head. Coach Moresco picked up on that and Bill became the punter.
