MANSFIELD. Conn. — Stephanie Habel Shaw, 45, of Mansfield Center Conn., and formerly of Ithaca, died Thursday, June I5, I989 in Saas-Fee, Switz. after a fall while hiking.
She was born in Temple, Texas and was a research associate for the Institute of Materials Science at the University of Connecticut where she also was chairwoman of the graduate admissions program in polymer science.
She grew up in Ithaca, and graduated from Ithaca High School in I962.
She was a I966 graduate of Bryn Mawr College.
She had earned a doctorate in zoology from Rutgers University.
She is survived by her husband, Montgomery T. Shaw of Mansfield Center a son, Steven R. Shaw of Mansfield Center; her parents, Robert E. and Wilma J. Habel of Ithaca; and a brother, Gareth Habel of Alexandria. Va.
