Sharon "Dee Dee" Townsend, 68, went to be with her lord on November 5, 2012. Dee Dee was born June 26, 1944 in Ithaca, NY to the late Mary A. (Aramini) Sharpe and Donald D. Townsend. She was a member of the West Hill Community Church and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxillary #1253. Predeceased by her son Thomas Leger on May 8, 2003, Dee Dee is survived by her children; Susan (Rich) Williams and Darren (Melissa) Williams; grandchildren Dustin, Heather, Dakota and Mikayla; great-grandson Brayden; brothers Robert (Janet) Townsend, William (Kathy) Sharpe, Paul (Lisa) Sharpe and Thomas Sharpe; nieces and nephews Matthew, Rachel, Mackenzie, Austin and Matthew; an aunt and many cousins; many wonderful friends and her canine companion "Nicky". A Memorial Service celebrating Dee Dee's life will be held at 11:00 am, November 17, 2012 at the West Hill Community Church, 3049 Van Dorns Corners Road, Ithaca, NY with a reception to follow. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Gadabout in Ithaca, NY or the West Hill Community Church in Ithaca, NY. Bangs Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
