Marsha Brown

Marsha M. Brown, A longtime resident of Pine City, passed away Wed. May 11, 2016 at her home at the age of 71. Born on Jun. 26, 1944 in St. Louis, MO; Marsha was the daughter of the late, David & Elizabeth Dunwoody Munro.
She received her Bachelors from Cortland and her Master's Degree in Education from Elmira College. Her love of youth and education combined as a beloved history teacher at Southside High School where she taught for nearly 35 years. Marsha enjoyed bird watching, flower gardening, landscaping, and precious times with family at Cayuga Lake. Marsha was a member of the Webb Mills United Methodist Church. Her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother were labors of love.
Surviving is her loving and saddened family, husband and companion of 50 years, Wayne Brown; son, David "Zack" Brown and wife, Ginger; daughter, Chrissy Brown Zack and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Brown; sisters, Margaret (Peter) Lauria, WV; Marilyn Moravec, Ithaca; sisters-in-law, Sharon Brown, Sandy Horine and Sharon Seinkner; several nieces and nephews along with her canine companion, "Zoey".
Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira, NY 14904 on Mon. May 16, 2016 between the hours of 5-8 p.m. with memorial services held privately at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Stray Haven Humane Society, 194 Shepard Rd. Waverly, NY 14892 or the Chemung County SPCA, 2435 NY-352, Elmira, NY 14903 in her memory.
