GUEST, EMERY BRUCE
Age 70 formerly of German Cross Road, Ithaca, NY went to be with his Savior on April 24, 2014. He will be eternally missed by his loving wife of 31 years, Yvonne Marion Guest, and his beloved daughter, Stacey Jo Guest-Meyer and son-in-law, Ted Meyer. He will be missed by his family: George J. (Joan) Guest, Freeville, NY; Jan (Susan) Guest, Hackettstown, NJ; June (Richard) Berggren, Newfield, NY; and Joanne Parsons, Groton, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, George W. and Arlene N. (Schutt) Guest and siblings, Eric and Gayle Guest.
Emery dutifully served his country, community, family and Lord. Emery honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He began serving, saving and protecting the citizens of Tompkins County when he was sworn into the Tompkins County Sheriff's Department as Deputy in 1968. Emery was a highly decorated, beloved and respected member of the TCSD and served two terms as Sheriff having previously served as Senior Criminal Investigator, specializing in Hostage Negotiation. During Emery's distinguished career, he served in the Cayuga Lake Navigation Patrol, Snowmobile Patrol, and Juvenile Division. He shared his expertise to the Arson Task Force, T.C. Sexual Abuse Task Force and TC-3 Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. Additionally he served his department by teaching and mentoring as a Police Training Instructor. Emery embodied Honor, Pride, and Integrity throughout his career.
Emery was a faithful member of the Hillside Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Emery enjoyed his retirement in Corning, NY, with his wife Yvonne. There they spent their time living their dream riding their horses.
Services in celebration of Emery's life will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 28 at Hillside Alliance Church, 1422 Slaterville Rd, Ithaca, NY. Friends are invited to call at the church on Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends to consider a memorial donation, in Emery's name to the Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Avenue, Suite 1802, New York, NY 10001 or to a charity of your choice.
