LARRY BEACH
Larry Beach, 65, life long resident of Brooktondale, NY, passed away Sunday August 1, 2010 at Cayuga Medical Center.
After graduating from Ithaca High School in 1962 Larry joined the army. During his tour of duty in Vietnam, he was awarded the Purple Heart. After being honorably discharge he went to work as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office. He retired from the post office after 30 years of service.
Larry was one who always put his family and friends before himself.
He loved to fish and hunt, which he was seen doing from the time he was old enough until he became physically unable. Even though he was an avid fisherman and hunter he was a very compassionate and caring person who watched over any hurt or crippled animal in his neighborhood.
Larry was predeceased by his father, Claude E. Beach and mother, Frances V. Kouf Beach; a half brother, Harold Beach and a half sister, Barbara Carlisle.
He is survived by his life long friends of Brooktondale and Slaterville and the post office: sisters, Mary (Manning) Vanetten of Groton and Shirley Beach (Norman) Buckland of Dryden, NY; also brothers-in-law Roger Vanetten of Brooktondale and Gerald Buckland of Dryden, NY; nieces, Gina Banfield and Dawn Gonzalez; nephews, Doug, Dale and Jerry Vanetten and Donald Norman Jr.; one aunt, Lorraine Goodwin; and uncles, Mr. & Mrs. David Kouf and Al Quakenbush; also many cousins.
Private graveside services for family and friends will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Scott Kubinski officiating. There are no calling hours; Bangs Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either Slaterville Ambulance or the Brooktondale Fire and Rescue.
