JOHN D. WORTHEN

OLD SAYBROOK, CT – John D. Worthen, age 54, of 330 Watrous Point, Old Saybrook, died Tuesday, October 13, 1998 at his home with his wife Mary Ellen and son John Ty by his side.  He was born April 21, 1944 in Ithaca, son of Albert W. & Katherine (Haberly) Worthen of Syracuse.  He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1962 then graduated from Ithaca College in 1967.  He was the cofounder of Focus Research Inc., of W. Hartford, Ct., President and CEO of Mergent International Inc. of Rock Hill Ct. and was the founder and partner of the Catalyst Group in Farmington, Ct.

  

John is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Gallagher) Worthen; his parents, Albert & Katherine Worthen of Syracuse; his son, John Ty Worthen of Vermont; two brothers, Albert W. Worthen Jr. of Old Forge, NY, Samuel H. Worthen of Niantic, Ct.; two sisters, Carol Bruchac of Greenfield Center, NY and Katherine W. Humphreys of Niantic, Ct.

  

Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to "Brave Hearts * Kinds Souls" c/o Maritime Bank, PO Box 920 Essex, Ct.  06426.  The Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd. is in charge of arrangements.
