James Spada, 64, of McIntosh, NM, died at his home on January 3, 2009, after a long illness. He was born in Ithaca, NY on June 10, 1944 to Tony and Helen (Mabee) Spada. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara (Marshall); daughter, Danyae of CA; two sons, Kyron of Candor, and Roblee of Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren; and dear friend, Frank Osborne. Also surviving are his mother, Helen, of Groton Nursing Facility; two brothers, Ronald and Jeffrey, both of Brooktondale; and a sister, Terry, of Hector. He was employed for many years at Cornell University. He was co-owner of Songmeadow Natural Foods in Interlaken.
Jim, his wife Barbara, and friend Frank Osborne moved from Interlaken to McIntosh, NM in 1995. Jim continued to pursue his life of painting and for many years, displayed his work, including his dichroic jewelry creations and raku pottery in Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
He was deeply loved and admired for his creative imagination, beautiful art work, and kindness. He enriched the lives of many through his creative spirit. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
