What have you been doing for the past 50 years?: After I completed college my wife, the former Linda Mazza, and I moved back to Ithaca to be near our families. In August we will celebrate our 40th anniversary. We have two daughters, Lisa and Amy. Lisa works at Cornell for the Div. of Financial Affairs and Amy is a Physical Therapist in Saratoga Springs. I have worked in accounting and administration for the last 31 years at Cornell University. Looking forward to retirement which could occur at any time. We love spending time with our grandchildren and are currently arranging a trip to the beach. We love the southwest and visit Nevada every chance we get.

What have you been doing for the past 50 years?: Graduated 1966 from United States Military Academy, West Point, NY. Married Lyn Bulche the day after graduation. Served 5 years in the Army in a variety of locations and command positions around the world. Left the Service in 1971 and worked in private business for 30 years in Denver, Chicago, the Boston area, and Seattle. Retired in 2001. Currently I am President Emeritus of the Board of Directors of Alexander Hamilton Scholars, a Seattle based non-profit organization. We identify high achieving, community service minded, needs based high school juniors from around the country who exhibit the character of a young Alexander Hamilton. Through a rigorous application and judging process we select 35 of these future leaders and award them a small stipend. We invite them to enroll in our Leader Academy program and assist them in making the transition from high school to college and from college to the workplace. During their 5 years in AHS, they participate in a series of seminars, internships, international service projects and other educational programs to prepare them to become the future leaders of our country. These young people have the capacity to make a huge difference in our world.

In 2016 I became a limited commissioned police officer for the City of Redmond and spend time as a police volunteer patrolling the city for disabled parking offenders and suspicious activity in and around commercial and residential areas.

What have you been doing for the past 50 years?: Graduated from LeMoyne College in Syracuse; not a good fit but that’s ancient history now. As Bill mentioned in his squib, we married as soon as we both graduated. His Army assignments took us to many parts of the US and also Germany, a delightful experience. We settled in Denver and produced three offspring before moving subsequently to Chicago, Massachusetts and finally Seattle in 1990 -- looks like a keeper! Most of my working life has been spent in public libraries (starting in Ithaca at age 14), and I’ve now had nearly 20 years with the King County Library System, the nation’s largest and one of the most technologically advanced. Will probably retire in early 2013. Ever mindful of our great musical exposure at IHS, and the lasting influence of Vito Mason, Bill and I got back into choral singing about 30 years ago and have had some wonderful experiences with this, including a memorable performance tour of Italy. I have at various times also studied classical guitar and harp. Many of our community involvements have revolved around music and other local performing arts. We like to dabble in wine-tasting, kayaking, golf and other fun stuff, and have enjoyed re-visiting many old haunts in the last few years. Our vacation cabin in the Cascade Mountains is a great place to unwind, chop wood, snowshoe, etc. Daughter Lisa, talented VP of a manufacturing concern near Seattle, provided the first grandchild: 12-year-old Kian, a brainy but mellow young guy. Son Michael lives happily in Spokane where he is a graphic designer, rock band bass player, website designer and besotted dad of 3-year-old Cambri Lyn. Son Ben pursued his dream of teaching martial arts near Hartford, CT, after graduating from Wesleyan. He and his excellent wife Karen, an amazing musician and teacher, moved to Seattle last year so she could go for her PhD in world music/education, and we are thrilled to have all our chicks nearby. We feel very fortunate that they became such terrific people who enjoy each other and all the spouses.

Being a Jeopardy contestant (12-31-10 and 1-3-11) was wish fulfillment in spades! More info in the "Current Stories" section of the website.
Comments: On a couple of trips to Italy, especially seeing places such as Pompeii and the Roman Forum, I thought many times of Latin teacher Dorothy Sicilia. She inspired me to continue study of Latin/Greek well into college, and in fact I had fun taking several quarters of refresher advanced Latin a few years ago. Remember how she used to name a certain prefix or root word at the beginning of class, and have us brainstorm all the English derivatives that resulted? The vocabulary-building has proved valuable many times over the years, especially while working in a medical office -- or trying to learn some Italian!

I've often told friends about the day camp that used to be held at Stewart Park every summer -- vocal music with Mr. Mason, band with Mr.Battisti, art with Mr. Myers, golf with Mr. Adesso, etc. What outstanding opportunities we were given, thanks to living in an academic community with people who understood the importance of opening windows for all kids.

Final comment: sorry to be so long-winded!

What have you been doing for the past 50 years?: Life after college (IC) was marriage (three), children (three sons), two granddaughters and a grandson, and a law degree from Southern Methodist University, not in that order. Practiced law in Dallas/Fort Worth for many years, moved to Austin and became an appellate prosecutor for the State of Texas. My job was to defend Texas against writs of habeas corpus filed in federal court by state prisoners convicted of capital crimes. Retired in 2011.
