What have you been doing for the past 50 years?:
I am in the process of retiring after a 30 + year career as a Psychologist. I have had a Private Practice for years as well as teaching at both Villanova and La Salle universities. While I love my work, I am enjoying partial retirement a great deal and look forward to new adventures in the years to come. I am enjoying a relatively new marriage. Wayne and I have been together almost 9 years. We both were married previously and have children and grandchildren from those marriages. I am very fortunate to have my son and his family nearby. I see my 2 1/2 year old grandson and his 1 1/2 year old brother weekly (if not more often). I could not have imagined how wonderful it is to be a \"Nana\"... Wayne and I spend a month each fall in Maine. He take lots and lots of photographs, I paint, read and walk. We plan a train trip across the country and back next summer, stopping along the way to visit family and friends. |

Comments:
2009: Bill and I are enjoying California, living close to kids( Dan, Karly and now Karly's husband( Jeff). Major Perk: Sunshine with NO humidity every day;) 2007: "Fun Stuff" I auditioned for the Rochester Dancing with the Stars. When I auditioned and saw my competitors(20, 30 and 40 somethings)and all I could think of was that great Beatles song "When I'm 64"(I was 64 then). Guess what, colleagues? I MADE THE FINALISTS AND I WON THE ENTIRE CONTEST, MONEY WHICH I DONATED AND LOTS OF FUN PUBLICITY. I had the time of my life...and danced with an Arthur Murray Professional 42 days in a row to get ready for each weeks taping on TV. DIFFERENT DANCES TOO...NO TWISTING:(Enjoy it?...I sure did! SEE WEBSITE, GOGGLE BARBARA CROWLEY The following update arrived in mid-April 2012: We moved to California when Karly became engaged to wonderful Jeff. It is always a mother's dream to be part of the wedding plans for her daughter and Karly wanted this dearly. We sold our home in 2007, just in time before the plummeting home values took a major hit. Then we moved into a cozy Rochester apartment for two years and retired in 2009. We made the big move here in October 2009. It was difficult to leave a super tight friendship network and I miss that. However, after Karly and Jeff's amazing Napa Valley Wedding( where 45 East Coast friends attended) and settling into the consistent sunny, dry climate, loving our Condo and discovering all the natural beauty, I became bored. So, I decided to do something that has always held much curiosity besides my Nursing and Counseling work. I applied to Law School, took the LSAT, did well and have been studying the Law for over a year. I really enjoy it and find the reading and entire process a true intellectual exercise. Bill and I have made friends after the 2 1/2 years out here and we have NO trouble getting our East Coast friends to California for visits. We only live 40 minutes from San Francisco. Our son Dan, who came out here for his education before Karly, lives near Karly and Jeff, which is perfect and again just about 40 minutes from us. The "frosting on the cake" is that Karly and Jeff are expecting a baby in July( our first grandchild). As you know, we will not leave, for anywhere, during that time. We are so excited, as you can imagine, having two of your own. Next week, we take a long awaited trip to Hawaii, which is much closer to us than it has ever been. It will be a celebration of our forthcoming 45th Anniversary. Bill loves his volunteerism and exercise program daily at our nearby gym. I do daily Yoga there too. So life is vibrant and full and I appreciate it every single day. I am sad when I read of the loss of so many classmates. At this juncture, I never take my health for granted. I wish everyone at the reunion a lovely, memorable time. I hope there will be a 55th. |

What have you been doing for the past 50 years?: The first eight years after high school was a matter of survival! After graduating from Mohawk Valley Community College in 1965, I survived four years of military service (1966-70) during the Vietnam Conflict, and then the student shootings at Kent State University (May 1970) where I completed my Bachelor Degree in Industrial Relations in 1972. Since that time, I've had a satisfying and rewarding career in Human Resources with PPG Industries, International Paper Co. and the last 24 years with CommScope, Inc. (CTV), a leading manufacturer of cable, components, and equipment for the telecommunications networking infrastructure. I'm in the process of developing a Corporate University which is an exciting challenge. I have to mention the importance of my Christian faith because it has had a significant impact on my relationships and life choices. I'm looking forward to doing missions work after retirement. I want you to know I am healthy, alive and well living comfortably in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina with my wife Carolyn (24 yrs.) and family (2 grandchildren). However, I do suffer from the "Cayuga Lake Syndrome" and spend as much time as possible on my Seadoo jet ski touring the Carolina lakes. I also enjoy my hobby of restoring vintage Corvettes and spending quality time with family and friends. I guess I'll retire when work is no longer fun! Best wishes to all my classmates. |
